Step Into the Spotlight

Hair and Make-up

It is recommended to style your hair to make it look glamorous. You can hire a professional to style your hair, but it is not obligatory, you can do it yourself. As for makeup, the options are:

  • You can do your makeup. Hiring a professional MUA artist for this shooting is not the ultimate must-have. Women are familiar with professional makeup methods through YouTube tutorials or social networks. Results close to professional can be achieved, so if you feel that professional makeup is not necessary for your shoot, don’t feel obligated to hire a make-up artist.
  • Hire a professional makeup artist
    • I may hire my associates MUA artists – I may check availability and price for you
    • You may hire your own MUA artist – whoever you feel comfortable with
    • I may advise you on near-studio hair, make-up, and nail salon. There is an affordable salon near my studio with a professional service – already verified many times by my models.

Wardrobe

Select a wardrobe according to your taste to showcase your style and unique aesthetics in the best possible way. Don’t be afraid to experiment. We can do a creative variety of photographs to present your personality in an unexpected way that will surprise you and others.

  • Clarify the shoot’s theme, color palette, or mood board
  • Are you going for vintage, casual, high fashion, or avant-garde? Make sure your wardrobe reflects this.
  • Select versatile options – bring a mix of outfits, including casual wear, formal attire, statement pieces, and accessories. Neutral basics like plain shirts or jeans can work well when paired with bolder pieces.
  • Consider both indoor and outdoor options – my studio has a huge rooftop terrace and is surrounded by lots of greenery
  • Choose clothing that fits well and allows freedom of movement for posing. Avoid clothes that are too tight or uncomfortable to wear for long periods.
  • Bring accessories. Include shoes, hats, scarves, jewelry, and belts to enhance your outfits
  • Take care of garments. Ensure all items are clean, ironed, and free from wrinkles or stains.
  • A clothes rack with hangers is available in the studio so you won’t have to worry about wrinkling your clothes. The changing room is also separated from the studio, so you will be able to change your clothes freely. There is a large mirror right next to the changing room, and you will be able to freely try on outfits and poses.

Tips

In the next lines, I wrote several instructions to make it easier for you to prepare for the shoot. By focusing on these areas, you’ll ensure that you’re prepared and confident for your private fashion photo session. Consider this for advice and recommendation only, not rules to be followed strictly.

1. Communication with the Photographer

  • Understand the Concept: Get a clear idea of the theme, mood, and style of the shoot.
  • Discuss Expectations: Ask about poses, wardrobe choices, makeup, and hairstyling.
  • Ask Questions: Clarify the time, location, and any specific requirements.

2. Glow up and Skincare

  • Skin:
    • Exfoliate gently the night before to remove dead skin.
    • Moisturize well to ensure glowing skin.
    • Avoid new skincare products that could irritate your skin.
  • Hair:
    • Wash your hair the night before (unless advised otherwise).
    • Style it naturally or as instructed by the photographer.
    • Bring any styling tools or products for touch-ups.
  • Nails:
    • Keep them clean and manicured. Neutral or clear polish is a safe option unless a specific look is required.

3. Practice Poses and Expressions

  • Look through fashion magazines or online portfolios for inspiration.
  • Practice in front of a mirror to understand your angles.
  • Familiarize yourself with poses that suit your body and the session’s theme.

4. Plan Your Wardrobe

  • Coordinate with the Photographer: Ensure your wardrobe matches the session’s theme.
  • Bring Options: Pack several outfits, including different colors and styles.
  • Undergarments: Choose seamless or skin-colored undergarments that won’t show through.
  • Accessories: Bring subtle options that complement the outfits but avoid overpowering the look.

5. Prepare Physically

  • Rest: Get a full night’s sleep to avoid looking tired.
  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water leading up to the session for healthy skin.
  • Light Meals: Eat something light before the shoot to maintain your energy.

6. Pack Essentials

  • Makeup for touch-ups (even if there’s a makeup artist).
  • Hairbrush, hairspray, and styling tools.
  • Safety pins, double-sided tape, and other wardrobe fixes.
  • Comfortable shoes for breaks.

7. Mental Preparation

  • Relax and stay confident. A positive mindset will show in your photos.
  • Visualize yourself succeeding in the shoot.
  • Build rapport with the photographer to feel more at ease.

8. On the Day of the Shoot

  • Arrive on time to settle in and get comfortable with the location.
  • Stay flexible and open to creative directions.
  • Take breaks if needed to avoid fatigue.
